Childcare Products

childcare_articles

ICQ USA performs safety tests on all products related to the care and the environments where children spend the majority of their time: home, auto, care centers and schools.  Products such as strollers, carriers, walkers, soothers/pacifiers, bottles, cutlery and feeding utensils are only some examples of the articles belonging to the category "Child Use and Care Articles."

In the laboratories of ICQ, childcare products are submitted to a series of tests, analysis and highly specialized evaluations:

  • Tests relating to the physical and mechanical properties of equipment such as:
    • dimension
    • static and dynamic load
    • mechanism and movement
    • resistance to corrosion;
  • Chemical analysis and tests such as:
    • heavy metals
    • determination of phthalates
    • determination of N–nitrosamine and N- nitrosable substances
    • determination of Azo-Dyes on fabrics
    • determination of carcinogenic colorants, flame retardants and color fastness to saliva and sweat;
  • Packaging evaluation;
  • Inspection during production: effective support to give you control during the working production stages.

ASTM F963 Compliance

The Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety (ASTM F963) was developed to establish nationally recognized safety requirements for toys.

ICQ  USA has developed a program to provide manufacturers, distributors and sponsors involved in marketing toys the assurance that their products meet all the current criteria for toy safety established by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

This program consists of obtaining an appropriate number of toys randomly selected from a manufacturer’s production line and subjecting those toys to appropriate testing procedures outlined in ASTM F 963.

Toys that are evaluated by ICQ  USA and found to comply with the ASTM F 963 standard will be issued a Certificate of Compliance. For those toys that are found not to be in compliance (may not be safe when used as intended or used under circumstances involving foreseeable misuse), these tests will identify specific health-related problems with the toy and recommendations will be issued on how to solve those problems and bring the toy into compliance.
