U.S. MARKET - News concerning sales, distribution, and import of WATCHES FOR CHILDREN in U.S. market
Monday, 12 January 2009 19:00

ICQ has been accredited in the list of the CPSC laboratories. See: www.cpsc.gov

Since November 12 2008, watches for children must be accompanied by a certificate of conformity that the product complies with all the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regulations.

Content of certificates:

  • identification of the product,
  • each applicable standards and ban for the specific product,
  • identification of the manufacturer and importer,
  • information regarding the contact person for test reports,
  • date and place where the product was produced and tested,
  • identification of the third party laboratory that issued the certificates.

In order to receive the certificate of conformity, the product must be subjected to specific tests, such as:

  • chemical tests (for example: total lead and lead in paint)
  • flammability test
  • physical-mechanical test.

These tests must be performed by a CPSC accredited laboratory, when required.

Starting on August 14 2009, the current maximum limit of lead in paint will decrease to 90 ppm and products not in compliance with the new limit can no longer be sold, distributed, marketed and imported in the U.S. market.
