In the USA the new version of the standard for the safety of toys, ASTM F963-08, has been recently issued. Currently, the Council only recognizes the old version of the standard, ASTM F963-07, as adequate to assure an acceptable safety level for toys. For this reason we recommend continuing to certify toys for the USA market in accordance to the old version of the standard, until the Council defines if the new version is adequate at the same level. ICQ has prepared a specific test protocol to check if a toy complying with the old version of the standard also complies to the new requirements in such way to let manufacturers be confident that their products will not have problems in the USA. |
