FIRST AMERICAN BAN TO THE USE OF BISPHENOL-A (intermediate in manufacturing of plastics)
Tuesday, 02 June 2009 19:00

Minnesota is the first state in the USA that has banned the use of Bisphenol-A (BPA) in children’s products such as baby bottles, bottles, cup or similar containers intended to be filled with food and liquids for children under 3 years of age.

The law sets two phases of application:

- by January 1, 2010, no manufacturer or wholesaler may sell a children’s product that contains BPA.

- by January 1, 2011, no retailer may sell a children’s products that contains BPA.

The ban does not apply to sale of used children’s products.

Other states in the USA (California, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Connecticut) are working out proposals to ban Bisphenol-A in some consumer products.

Our chemical laboratory has the equipment to test for the presence of BPA in your products and verify compliance in the market place. We will keep you updated on the future development of legislation related to this substance.
