Recently, CPSC has published a proposed revision of the registration system expected for the customers (end users) of some childcare products (included in the category of "Durable Nursery products" such as cots, strollers, swings, cribs ...). This system, already in force, requires producers to keep records of consumers who have purchased a product, in order to facilitate communications relating to the products they purchase, ensuring a more prompt intervention in case of withdrawals or in general, reporting any possible exposure to risks arising from the use of these products. For recording the consumer must use a special postcard pre-printed and partially filled in by the manufacturer or access to a dedicated page of the website of the manufacturer. The proposed amendments to the registration system is not substantial, and include, for example, variations to the format, layout and size of the postcard that the customer can use to provide its data to the manufacturer. Will remain in place the possibility for the consumers to register on the manufacturer's website, which must therefore have specific features of content and layout. If the proposal becomes effective and will be published as a final rule in the Code of Federal Regulation, shall enter into force 12 months after the publication of the final rule. In the transitional period, both recordings made under the old rule, or according to the proposal will be considered valid.
