US MARKET: PLAY YARD SAFETY
Wednesday, 28 December 2011 10:34

CPSC proposed a new safety standard for Play Yard.
This standard is based on ASTM F 406-11 “Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Non-Full-Size Baby cribs/Play Yard”, that will suffer some changes in the physical-mechanical safety requirements.
The proposal has been published on September on the Federal Register. When the proposal will be approved and published on the Federal register it will become mandatory to perform the tests in a laboratory accredited by the CPSC as a third party.
For the US Market CPSC requires third party tests for all consumer products, especially  for those intended for children twelve years of age or younger. A third party certification is required for the following products: pacifiers, baby walkers, full size baby cribs, non full size baby cribs, baby bouncers.
All materials used shall complies with the requirements for lead and phthalates and properly tested.
All products intended for children twelve years of age or younger shall complies with the abuse tests and shall be marked with a traceability label.
