•ASTM WK30512 – New specification for sling carriers Description: sling carrier is a product, normally made of fabric or sewn fabric construction, which is designed to contain a full term infant, in an upright or reclined position, in contact with the caregiver. This product is intended for infants whose weigh is between 8lb and 35 lb (3.6 kg and 15.9 kg). The infant sling carrier is normally worn by the caregiver, and thus the infant is supported from one or both shoulders of the caregiver. These products are worn on the front, hip or back of the caregiver, the infant either facing towards or away from the caregiver.
•ASTM WK 27475 – New specification for standard consumers safety specification for bedside sleepers Description: bedside sleeper is a product, normally consisting of a metal or wood frame and sewn fabric construction, which is designed to contain a full term infant, generally in a supine sleeping position. The child would be in close proximity to the caregiver, alongside, fastened to, and at or below the top of the mattress of the caregivers bed. In general, the child will weigh between 7 lb and 25 lb (3.2 and 11.3 kg). The bedside sleeper is an adaptation of a bassinet (covered under standard ASTM F2194) or a play yard (covered under standard ASTM F406) and this standard is intended to provide requirements for these two products when they are used as bedside sleepers.
