The United States has a new regulation for portable bed rails under discussion. The new regulation will require that portable bed rails comply with ASTM F 2085-10a "Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Portable Bed Rails", with some modifications defined in this regulation.

In addition, it will become compulsory that portable bed rails be tested by a CPSC accredited laboratory prior to placing them on the U.S. market.
