On November 2011 the standard EN 1930 will be released concerning safety barriers to use in a domestic environment. The main news introduced by this standard are:
• the introduction of a new hip probe and of new finger probes; • the removal of the disk from the ball and chain test so that the test is now more accurate and reproducible unlike the old one; • the introduction of the rattle test for security of the gate; • the removal of the out of alignment requirement as not reproducible; • the improvement of the impact test and new test frame which provides a more reproducible test; • the improvement of the requirements for the closing system.
