Two important legal references of the care label are at this moment under review:
• ISO 3758 (Textiles – Care labelling code using symbols) about the use of pictograms • the U.S.A. federal code 16 CFR 423 (care labelling of textile wearing apparel and certain piece goods as amended) which gives the labelling requirements for the U.S.A market.
The new version of ISO 3758 (that is currently a draft version waiting for approval), includes, among other changes, the use of a different symbol for banning the bleaching, the barred triangle becomes white inside instead of black. In this new version they also proposed an amendment to the use of symbols and new symbols for professional washing in water. The proposal to amend the Federal Code 16 CFR 423 provides a study to assess the feasibility of using new care symbols, other than those currently in use, and suggestions for the professional washing.
