GULF COUNTRIES: GCC conformity mark
Friday, 18 November 2011 10:56

Starting from July 1st, 2011 all toys imported to GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries should bear the GCC conformity mark. Presence of this mark is mandatory for customs clearance from the authorities. Similarly to CE mark inside the European Community, applying the GCC mark on a product means that the product itself complies with all the applicable requirements related to health and safety. Furthermore, applying the mark guarantees that the product passed all the conformity evaluations. Shape and dimensions of the GCC conformity mark should comply with the relative technical standards: in case it becomes necessary to reduce or enlarge it, the proportions must be respected. Whenever a product standard does not specify precise dimensions of the GCC mark, this must have a minimum height of 5 mm.

GCC mark can be applied by the manufacturer or from his agent or legal representative on the Gulf Countries’ market. In addition to the evaluation of conformity of the toy, the manufacturer should set up the technical documentation, draw up the Declaration of Conformity and ensure that the production procedures guarantee the conformity of manufactured product to the technical documentation.

We are able to support its clients in need of exporting their products to the countries belonging to GCC (Kuwait, United Emirates of Arabia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar) and draw up the corresponding Declarations of Conformity.
