From July 1st 2006, is not possible to put on the European market electrical and electronic equipment that is not in compliance with Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS Directive - Restiction of hazardous substances). The purpose of the Directive is to reduce the amount of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
Manufacturers/importers of electrical and electronic devices will be responsible for all finished products put on the market that are not in compliance with the Directive.
Electrical and electronic equipment included in the scope of the Directive:
- Large household appliances
- Small household appliances
- IT and telecommunication equipment
- Consumer equipment
- Lighting equipment
- Electrical and electronic tools (with the exception of large-scale stationary industrial tools)
- Toys, leisure and sport equipment
- Medical devices (with the exception of all implanted and infected products)
- Monitoring and control instruments
- Automatic dispensers
